Acceptance

These terms apply when you use thewalletwisdom.com ("the Site"). Reading the Site means you accept them. If you do not, stop using the Site — there is no account to close and nothing to cancel.

What the Site is, and what it is not

The Wallet Wisdom publishes general personal-finance information for a US audience. It is journalism and explanation, not advice about your situation.

• Nothing here is financial, investment, tax, legal, insurance, medical, or accounting advice.
• We are not licensed financial advisers, brokers, insurance producers, attorneys, or accountants, and we are not regulated as any of those.
• Reading the Site, emailing us, or using a calculator creates no advisory, fiduciary, attorney-client, or professional relationship of any kind.
• We do not recommend specific products to specific readers, and we do not know your circumstances. You are the one deciding.

Costs, rates, thresholds, benefit amounts, and program rules change, sometimes in the middle of a year. We research from primary sources and re-check pages, but we cannot promise that every figure on the Site is current or that it applies where you live. Check the official source we link to before you act on a number. Our disclaimer sets this out in full.

Calculators

The calculators on the Site are teaching tools. They run entirely in your browser, they use the assumptions stated on each page, and they produce estimates — not quotes, offers, approvals, or eligibility determinations. A lender, insurer, agency, or tax preparer will reach its own conclusion using its own rules, and that conclusion governs, not ours.

We do not store what you type into them and we could not act on it if we wanted to. See the privacy policy for the detail.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, mirror, or bulk-copy the Site, including for training machine-learning models, without written permission.
• Attempt to break, overload, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the Site or its hosting.
• Interfere with how ads are served in a way that generates invalid traffic or clicks.
• Represent our content as your own, or republish it in a way that suggests we endorse you.

Our content, and what you may do with it

The articles, calculators, illustrations, and design on the Site are ours and are protected by copyright. You are welcome to link to any page, and to quote a short passage with attribution and a link back to the original. Anything more — republishing a full article, syndicating a series, or using our material in a commercial product — needs written permission. Ask at hello@thewalletwisdom.com.

Form numbers, program names, agency names, and third-party trademarks appear on the Site because we are writing about them. That is not a claim of ownership and not a claim of affiliation.

Links to other sites

We link out constantly — to the IRS, the CFPB, HUD, state agencies, and the companies whose policies we are describing. Those sites are not ours. We do not control their content, their accuracy, their privacy practices, or what they do after you arrive. A link is a pointer, not an endorsement, and once you leave the Site their terms apply instead of these.

Advertising

The Site is free and is paid for by advertising served through Google AdSense. Ads are labelled. We do not choose the individual advertisers who appear, we do not vet their products, and an ad appearing next to an article is not a recommendation of that advertiser. Any dealing you have with an advertiser is between you and them. The full disclosure is in our advertising disclosure.

No warranty

The Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that any figure or calculation on it is complete, current, or applicable to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, The Wallet Wisdom and the people who run it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost savings, or lost data, arising out of your use of the Site, your reliance on anything published on it, or your dealings with any third party you found through it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to one hundred US dollars in total.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Indemnity

If your misuse of the Site — breaching the acceptable-use section above, or infringing someone's rights — causes a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs of defending it.

Changes to the Site and to these terms

We add, update, and retire articles and calculators as facts change, and we may change these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. Continuing to use the Site after a change means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law

Any dispute is governed by the law of the jurisdiction in which this site is operated. If you are a consumer, this does not remove any mandatory protection you have under the law of the country where you live, and nothing here limits a right you cannot waive by agreement.

Severability and entire agreement

If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest stands. These terms, together with the privacy policy and the disclaimer, are the whole agreement between us about the Site.
